Cavities
If you are feeling tooth pain or sensitivity, don’t suffer in silence. Instead, reach out to our Miami dental practice by dialing (305) 270-5505. Dr. Alvarez will closely analyze your teeth, identify caries and take appropriate action. However, you might have one or several cavities and not be aware of it. This is precisely why you should schedule 6-month appointments at our office.
Cavities are usually visible in oral exams. However, there is a chance one or multiple cavities are present in between your teeth. An x-ray will be necessary to identify these hidden cavities. Your cavities will be proactively addressed with the elimination of the decayed material, the filling of the tooth and the addition of a customized crown. The crown is positioned atop the tooth to replace the natural crown. However, if the tooth decay is extensive to the point that the nerves have died, a root canal will be necessary.
The root canal eliminates the blood vessel tissues, nerve tissues and decayed portions of the tooth. Dr. Alvarez will look for infections and add medication to the roots of the tooth as required. The tooth is then filed and a crown is added. Alternatively, if the cavity is detected in the early stage, fluoride treatment will help restore the tooth’s enamel and prevent subsequent decay.
