Cracked Tooth Repair

A small crack in your tooth might seem like a minor cosmetic issue yet it has the potential to be a major problem.  Small cracks can expand as time progresses.  Serious fractures have the potential to threaten your tooth’s integrity, meaning timely action is essential.  However, the only way to determine if your compromised tooth needs treatment is to meet with our Miami dentist, Dr. Alvarez for an examination.

Pay close attention to your tooth prior to the appointment.  Your appointment is your opportunity to detail the nuances of the pain from the crack or fracture.  Pay especially close attention to how the tooth feels when subjected to cold and hot temperatures.  Don’t chew on the cracked tooth until you meet with our Miami dentist as doing so has the potential to cause irritation.  Our dentist will repair the cracked tooth with filling or bonding, a veneer, a crown, a root canal or extraction.  However, if the issue is only cosmetic and merely affects the outer layer, meaning the enamel, the dentist might decide to let the tooth remain as is but for light polishing to enhance its aesthetic appeal.
